Strong Storms & Flooding Potential Late Today & Tomorrow

An areal flood watch includes much of our area and goes into effect this evening and will last through tomorrow. Areas along and south of I-44 will see the greatest flooding potential where 2 to 4 inches of rain will be possible. Strong storms will also be possible mainly this evening.

Scattered showers and storms are still developing this evening. We will see heavy rain with a few of these storms that could lead to flooding. Also, of the few of the storms could produce damaging wind and large hail. There could briefly be an isolated spin-up type tornado south and west of Joplin.

The leading edge of colder air has push south of Interstate 44. This will be the focus for the rainfall that we see tonight. Showers continue to develop across Northeast Oklahoma right now. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 11 PM for most of the Four States. We will start to see the risk for severe weather diminish after 10 PM. We will still have rainfall tomorrow though. Mainly through the morning. This begins to taper off in the afternoon. For tomorrow look for heavy rain in the morning. Temperatures will only reach the mid 50s.

By the weekend it is cooler with highs only in the 50s. We do have the chance for rain again on Sunday. Also, late next week we could see another strong storm system move through by Thursday.
