Will Boswell finished senior season as Top Performer of the Year


The Mt. Vernon football season came to a close a week earlier then it did the previous season, but Will Boswell’s career as a Mountaineer ended with the Senior breaking the Missouri High School Football career tackle record with 630.

This season Boswell rushed for over 1,500 yards and caught over 200 while also recording 164 total tackles as the Mountaineers made a second straight trip to the Final Four. 

Zach Westmoreland of Joplin would finish second in the voting, but finished first in the inaugural social media fan vote! 


#1 Will Boswell – Mt. Vernon – Senior – RB/LB

#2 Zach Westmoreland (Fan Vote Winner) – Joplin – Junior – WR/DB/Returner: 2,132 all-purpose yards, 28 total touchdowns, 58 tackles, 7 interceptions

#3 JC Shelton – Galena – Senior – QB/DB/Returner: 1,906 total offensive yards, 27 offensive touchdowns, 71 tackles

#4 Dylan White – Pittsburg – Senior – WR/DB/Returner: 1,261 all-purpose yards, 19 total touchdowns, 14 tackles, 4 interceptions

#5 Patrick Carlton – Carthage – Sophomore – QB: 2,469 total yards, 35 total touchdowns

Honorable Mention: Devrin Weathers of Webb City, Bowen Preddy of Cassville, Alex Gaskill of Webb City, Landon Hardman of Lamar, Chris Ibarra of Commerce and Tyler Smith of Joplin.
