The St. Mary’s Colgan Panthers are on to the Sub State round of the Kansas Class 1A Playoffs at Olpe Friday (11/16).
The Panthers will have to replace senior quarterback, Cade Simmons, who suffered a season ending knee injury last week in a win against Jackson Heights, but despite of the loss of Simmons on the field, the Panthers are trying to stay positive.
“We got some snow earlier in the week and we told them, you’re playing football when there’s snow on the ground, that’s a good thing. It means you probably played pretty long and again they are enjoying it. We try to keep things in perspective. And there’s four teams left in 1-A, we’re one of four. And there’s a lot of teams that aren’t able to come out and practice that still wish they were, so we really drilled it in to enjoy this ride, and not let it pass by,” said Colgan Head Coach, Shawn Seematter.
“We gotta play our game. We gotta play how we played against Hillsboro, and Jackson Heights, if we can do that O-linemen, d-line, is gonna win it up in the front, this week. It’s gonna be in the trenches, is who’s gonna win,” said Colgan Senior Lineman, Garrett Bolinger.
Kickoff is set for 7PM.
