Action 12’s George Balekji is reporting, former Pittsburg State Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach, Jon Gilliam, has resigned from his position with the university and will not return next season.

Per a university spokesperson, “Unrelated to the recent investigation, Coach Gilliam has resigned his position at PSU effective June 15, and is currently pursuing other opportunities.”

Gilliam was placed on administrative leave on January 31st of 2019 after the university and the MIAA Conference began an investigation that Gilliam allegedly directed a racial slur towards a member of the Central Missouri coaching staff on January 12th of 2019.

The university could not comment further upon personnel matters. Investigation reports were requested but Pittsburg State could not release them due to the investigation file belonging to Gilliam’s personnel file which is not subject to open records request.

Jon Gilliam’s name has also been removed from Pitt’s coaching staff roster. He was reached for further comment but did not reply.
