Homeruns by Ty Herrenbruck and Caleb Cox gave Pitt the first leg over Missouri Southern en route to a 9-4 game two win in the MIAA series.
Denver Coffee had a three run shot to tie the game in the 5th, while Jon Leighton homered in the 6th to make it a 5-4 deficit, but a four run rally in the top of the ninth gave Pitt the insurance needed for the win.
MSSU’s Will Bausinger went 5 2/3 innings pitched totaling eight strikeouts but allowed five runs as well. Brad Kinsey of Pitt went 5 1/3 allowing four runs and finishing with six Ks to earn his sixth win of the season.
The Gorillas will go for the sweep Sunday at Warren Turner Field at 1 PM.
