The Missouri Southern Football team is 1-9 entering their final game of the regular season Saturday (11/7) against rivals Pittsburg State.
For Lion’s interim head coach, Joe Bettasso, the game means even more for him as a Missouri Southern alum and a Joplin native.
“You know ever since I was a kid I’ve been coming to this game,” said Bettasso. “So, it’s always one that is circled on your calendar, you know. With the proximity of the schools and the history of playing each other, so it’ll be a different perspective being on the sideline in this manner. It’ll be the first time doing it.”
It will also be the final game for the MSSU Seniors, but they are hoping they can leave a mark on this program in their final outing.
“I just wanna, you know, kind of leave a mark. It’s kind of just the last chance to go out and compete in a game. It is the last game and it is the Pitt State week, so I mean we’re just going to do everything we can to kind of leave our mark as Seniors.”
Kickoff for Saturday’s game will be at 2 PM from Fred G. Hughes Stadium in Joplin.
