Missouri Southern made the leap from whiffing on the MIAA tournament last season to earning the two seed this year, but that’s all that’s given in post season baseball.
With two wins on Saturday, the Lions made it back to the MIAA tournament semifinals where they’ll take on rival Central Missouri for a spot in the championship.
Aurora native Zach Shoemaker dominated game one from the mound, going six and two thirds, totaling eight strikeouts as the Lions scored the first seven runs of the game to hold on for the 7-2 victory.
Then in game two, Bryce Darnell turned to his bullpen, as Bradly Hershey came in midway through the second inning to go the distance, alowing just six hits and striking out six batters.
Missouri Southern and Central Missouri will start off semifinal Sunday at 9 AM as the winner advances to the championship game.
