Lauffer has career day in win at East Newton

Friday night football at East Newton turned into the Logan Lauffer show, as the junior amassed 270 total all-purpose yards to give Aurora a Big 8 Conference win over the Patriots 52-25.

Lauffer scored four touchdowns in the win, one rushing, one receiving, one on a pick-6 and the fourth on a fumble scoop and run to paydirt.

Aurora scored five times in the first quarter, including three of Lauffer’s scores and one each from Clayton Dunning and Casey Weathermon.

Isaac Martinez got in on the action in the second quarter, as did full back Blake Williams.

At the half, Aurora led comfortably 46-13.

The second half saw mainly reserves for the Houn’ Dawgs, as they scored once more on a 16-yard scamper by Lauffer.

Lauffer rushed five times for 84 yards, while Weathermon added 61 yards on the ground.

Quarterback J.D. Lee threw for 137 yards and two touchdowns.

Aurora will travel to Monett Friday, Sept. 15.
