Pittsburg State University announced today that Amanda Davied was promoted to head coach of the women’s basketball team following Lane Lord’s departure.
Davied has served as an assistant at Pitt State for 14 seasons. Before her time as a coach, Davied was a member of the Gorilla’s basketball team as a player. She was also a prep star in the area at Girard High School.
Davied will be the 7th head coach in program history. She will replace Lane Lord who accepted a head coach position at Division 1 University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
Lord leaves the program after 11 seasons with a record of 231-102. He was named MIAA Coach of the Year five times during his career at Pitt State. He also led the program to their first ever Elite 8 appearance in 2012 and gain in 2016. During his tenure at Pitt State, Lord led the Gorillas to seven 20 win seasons and five NCAA Division 2 tournament appearances.
