Amanda Davied’s annual women’s basketball team camp tipped off this week with 89 teams competing from Wednesday through Friday.

Davied estimates between 550 to 600 total athletes from varsity and JV squads are in attendance, with all teams guaranteed eight games and competition in a two minute tournament.

Due to its popularity, the camp has another three day session spanning from June 19th to the 21st which will welcome another 84 teams.

With all the college prospects Davied’s camp brings onto campus, she recognizes the recruiting tool it can be as well, “One of the best advantages is when you can have kids on your campus and you can visit with them and show them facilities and be around them, see them interact with their teammates and their coaches and really just a great tool for having a lot of kids on campus and even exposing them to Pittsburg State. Of course getting them around all of our awesome facilities, the rec, the student rec and getting them on campus in the dorms and letting them see what Pittsburg State’s about.”

The three-day camp also provides housing and meals, along with an All-Star game and awards for divisional and two minute tournament winners.
