Hundreds of young archers from around the area came out to Missouri Southern to show off their skills today.
The third annual Academy Sports + Outdoors Shootout took place at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center today.
This event features nearly 50 teams from both here in the four states and even as far as the St. Louis area participating in the Bullseye and 3D competitions.
Some of the teams and students that scored high enough were be able to win prizes like bow gear, clothing, medals, trophies, and even a chance to qualify for the state tournament happening in a few weeks.
Kaycia Woolsey, event co-organizer says. “To know that there’s that many kids out there that are exploring archery and finding that they like it and finding the benefits of [it] is a great feeling.”
This year those that both competed today and had good grades were able to receive recognition for their work in the classroom.
