40 new homes are being created in downtown Ft. Scott.
The Flint Hills Holding Group out of Lawrence, Kansas began work on what will soon become the Ft. Scott Lofts in downtown Ft. Scott. The apartment units will be in the Union Block building, and represents a $5.5 million dollar investment. City leaders say along with breathing new life into an historic building, the project is also expected to have a big impact on downtown.
“Really kind of get after our younger generation and know that there’s more to do down here, with our micro brewery and our coffee house, and we’ve got a lot of dining options down here, and we really are just trying to breathe specifically life after five within our downtown district,” says Rachel Pruitt, Economic Development Director.
Work is expected to be completed sometime next fall.
