Work begins to expand FSCC ag facility

Work begins to expand a facility a Ft. Scott Community College.

Crews from Crossland Construction are beginning work to add a more than 4,000 square foot addition to N. Jack Burris Hall, home of the school’s agriculture department. The addition will feature a new entryway and commons area that will be large enough to host the department’s annual banquet, along with new offices for staff and a conference room. The funds for the project came for a gift from the Boileau and Cleaver families. Instructors say the need for the addition came from the program’s growth over the past several years.

“Just like anything, if you’re not growing, you’re staying stagnant or going backwards, and Ft. Scott Community College’s Ag Department is growing, and so it’s a need to expand,” says agriculture instructor Blake Davis.

Work on the building should be nearing completion in August of this year, with staff moving into it shortly after that.
