One woman is dead, her grandmother injured, and her husband is in custody as authorities investigate a murder in Crawford County.
Shortly after 12pm Monday, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic dispute in progress at 423 North 69 Highway in Arma.
84-year-old Dorma Lemaster told police her grandaughter, 37-year-old Brandy Delmarco, was being assaulted by her husband, Jeremy.
When authorities arrived, both women were outside the home with stab wounds.
Brandy Delmarco and her grandmother were transported to local hospitals. Brandy did not survive her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Lemaster underwent surgery and is expected to survive.
Jeremy Delmarco was also transported to a local hospital. Authorities say he resisted arrest, was tased twice, and stunned more several times.
After treatment, he was taken to the Crawford County Jail. He is facing possible charges of 2nd Degree Murder and 2nd Degree Attempted Murder.
Authorities also say, during the struggle with Jeremy Demarco, his dog attacked the deputy. A second deputy then arrived to assist arresting Delmarco. During that time, the dog continued to be aggressive towards the deputies and one of deputies was forced to shoot the dog.
The first deputy on scene also went to the hospital to be evaluated for possible injuries. He was treated and released.
Arma Police Department, Pittsburg State University Police, Pittsburg Animal Control, Kansas Bureau of Investigation, and Crawford County EMS also assisted at the scene.
