A Miami elementary school is working to raise money for its students.
Wilson Elementary is launching a mum fundraiser. Students will be selling 14 to 16 inch plants in 8 inch pots for $10 dollars.
Teacher Kaci Hoffer says fundraisers like this are important to help offset funding cuts that have been made to education in Oklahoma. The money raised will allow teachers to purchase items in the classroom and improve playground equipment, as well as fund field trips for children.
“Going on field trips isn’t something that some families are able to do. Like going to the pumpkin patch or going to concerts at the Coleman, so at school we want to give them the full give them experiences that they might not have otherwise,” says Wilson Elementary teacher Kaci Hoffer.
Mums can be ordered from now until September 10th. The plants can them be picked up September 13th at Wilson Elementary. For information on ordering you can visit the link we’ve provided here.
