Another Southwest Missouri bulldog is taking home the Golden Lion Award – but this time it’s a
This 18 year old is having a very busy year.
“I take five online dual credit classes, so I’ll graduate with 32 hours toward my associates degree,” says Tori Goostree, WHS Senior.
Tori Goostree plays basketball, softball, and volleyball – and that’s just this year.
“In Junior High, I participated in all five sports. It was a lot but I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” says Goostree.
She’s still packing her schedule, now with National Honors Society, FFA, FCA.
“I did History day; my team won state 2 times,” says Goostree.
It all leads to a wide range of helping others. That includes holiday events.
“We serve in the Christmas parade shack. We serve free hot dogs and cocoa and donate that to people,” says Goostree.
Supporting victims of Hurricane Harvey
“We collected over 5,000 bottles of water in a matter of two days,” she says.
And she also helps out with blood drives, a petting zoo for local kids, a Veterans’ Day dinner, collecting items for the Children’s Center, and out of state mission trips.
“We would hold a sports camp for kids and you played kickball, water balloon fights, we shot bows and arrows. And then in the afternoon you would go paint houses in the pueblos,” says Tori Goostree.
So it’s no surprise to Wheaton High School coach Jess Lombard that Tori is a Golden Lion.
“I’m very proud of what she does – she’s you know now a senior, taking mostly college classes. A lot of kids do look up to her,” says Jess Lombard, WHS Coach.
Graduation day isn’t far off.
“I think it’s 106 days away – we looked it up today,” says Goostree.
After that, she’s heading to Missouri Southern with plans for a career in nursing.
