Westar Energy is helping to make Pittsburg a little bit greener.
Monday, the energy company donated three vehicle charging stations to the Kansas Technology Center at Pittsburg State.
The stations are some of their first public designated charging spots in the area.
Westar says they are hoping the new additions help ease the difficulty in finding spots to charge electric cars throughout the region.
Jeff Martin with Westar Energy says, “It gives people the opportunity to get away from some of their concerns. To have these points across the city, to where they can come and charge and not have that concern anymore. So just trying to get rid of some of those barriers is what we’re trying to do.”
The stations are powered partly by renewable wind energy.
And to use one, all induviduals need to do is get the Chargepoint app.
In some cases, people can completely charge their vehicle for under five dollars.
