Webb City PD to buy license plate scanner thanks to generous donation

Grant funding may help a local police department with a technology upgrade.

The Missouri Police Chief’s Charitable Foundation is giving the Webb City Police Department $16 thousand dollars. The money is earmarked for a license plate scanner, similar to those already in use by Joplin police and Jasper County deputies. Officers say that means they can tie into the network and database used by those agencies.

City council members will discuss the project at Monday’s meeting.
