Webb City looks into options for expanding city water supply

Webb City is looking for options to expand its water supply.

City workers are exploring potential sites for a new well to add to the seven existing wells providing water to the city. Webb City also draws about 30 percent of the municipal supply from Missouri American Water company. But city leaders would like to shrink that number, making the municipal system more independent.

“Maintain our independence in the event something was to happen kind of like the tornado happened, Webb City got shut off from the water source MO A,” says Carl Francis, WC City Administrator.

The city council has set aside more than $800 thousand dollars for the project. They hope to have the new well dug and in operation in time for peak demand this summer.
