Kansas Congressman Steve Watkins stopped by Pittsburg today on his Southeastern Kansas tour.
Watkins met with city leaders, business owners and residents to discuss pressing issues in the area. Some of those included concerns around education funding and rural health care. Watkins says he understands the pressure for change in rural health care and he is working to make the lives of his constituents better.
“Keeping healthcare alive in small communities and ensuring that citizens have access to quality health care is a challenge that we face all the time. We’re holding these discussions with stakeholders and we’re going to move forward smartly for the benefit of Kansans,” says Watkins.
Watkins also spoke with city leaders about Highway 69 and how to keep people from moving out of rural areas.
