Water line replacement in Joplin will benefit residents after a few weeks of construction

Crews have already started work on 25,000 feet of water line replacement and upgrades. The goal of the project is to prevent frequent water main problems in that part of the city which dates back several decades.

“We are replacing old water main that dated back to the early 1950’s with new water main that’s actually bigger so the customers in this area are going to have the benefit of increased fire protection which is critical to the success and reliability of the neighborhood and the community,” says Christie Barnhart with Missouri American Water.

Barnhart says the project is expected to take about three months to complete.
