Wanted man surrenders to police at local sporting goods store, only after K-9 is utilized

News

Around 5:30 Tuesday afternoon, an off-duty officer from another jurisdiction spotted Miles Mittag, 40, of Galena. He was wanted on several felony warrants out of three states.

Miles went into Academy Sports in Joplin. Officers approached him inside the store but he refused to cooperate and surrender to officers.

A police K9 was eventually used to apprehend him. Sergeant William Davis tells our Joplin News First team that Miles was taken to a hospital, and then to jail.

He has active warrants out of Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma.
