According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, just before two this afternoon a waste management truck rear-ended a Stockton school bus, forcing the bus off the side of the road and over a steep embankment. The crash happened on Missouri 96 near Carthage. The bus was carrying thirteen people from the Stockton softball team. Two students and two adults suffered minor injuries. The driver of the waste management vehicle told authorities he didn’t know the bus was trying to turn left into a park and couldn’t stop in time. Troopers say no one was sitting in the back of teh bus when the two vehicles collided. Both the bus and the waste management vehicle suffered extensive damage in the crash.
“Well I think everybody is just feels really fortunate that nobody was seriously hurt. If you can see the track the bus took after impact you know it could have been a lot worse.” said Cpl. Jeff Prewitt, MSHP Trooper.
