Thomas Jefferson students honor veterans at assembly on Friday

It’s an annual tradition for students at Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School — honoring local veterans. Third through 5th graders sang patriotic songs inside the school’s auditorium before personally acknowledging their family and friends who served in the armed forces.
Head of school Dr. Ben Parsons says there are quite a few tears shed during this event.
“I think for our kids to stop and reflect, especially in such as a dramatic week as this, and just reflect on on how they got here and how the nation got here. To me, it does send shivers down my spine and makes me extremely proud of being part of such a vibrant community,” said Parsons.
Parsons says the event continues to grow and honor more and more veterans each year.
