Local fire recruits graduate from training today.
The Joplin Fire Department held a firefighter graduation at the Joplin Public Safety Training Center.
Seven new recruits are now ready to join local departments within the town.
After preparing for fourteen weeks and enduring survival drills, such as completing a maze filled with hazards while blindfolded, the fire chief believes the new recruits are ready to protect the city of Joplin.
“You know they look great. I’m excited to see them get out on the trucks. I’m excited to see them bring their skills to help the people of Joplin.” says Jim Furgerson, JFD Chief
“Serveral of us start on a truck this weekend. And I believe I speak for each of them when I say that we are ready to be a strong member of the team we are put with.” says Spencer Dobbs, JFD Recruit
Spencer is looking forward to a long career with the Joplin Fire Department and the opportunities this department has to specialize in operations.
