Today a regional teacher of the year celebration was held.
This was performed to honor those who have been nominated for district teacher of the year. The event featured the announcement of individuals that will be representing the district in the SW Missouri Regional Teacher of the Year.
The two winners are Tobin Schultz, a high school business teacher at Carl Junction and Ruth Wydick, special education at teacher Lamar West Elementary. They were selected out of 11 individuals that applied to represent their district by community members and those in the educational field.
"I honestly probably learn more from the students than they learn from me and I can just say it's exciting and rewarding that I get to spend my day with students,” says Tobin Schultz.
"It feels amazing I am surprised and honored sitting in a group of professionals that are at the top of the game to receive this award,” says Ruth Wydick.
Both Schultz and Wydick will now go on to compete against teachers statewide for Missouri Teacher of the Year.
