Shooting Leaves One Man Injured and Another Behind Bars

The suspect is identified as 59-year-old Ty Cline of Fairview.

He is being held at the Newton County Jail on $500,000 bond.

Our Joplin News First reporter spoke to neighbors of the men, who said arguments between the two had been on-going for some time.

A man is shot and injured and another is behind bars in Fairview.

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office was called for a shooting in Fairview around 6:30 Friday night.

Authorities say 50-year-old William Gunter of Fairview was shot twice.

Gunter was taken to a Springfield hospital, and is now in stable condition.

When deputies arrived the 59-year-old male suspect, also of Fairview, was still there. 

The suspect is facing charges of First Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action.

The suspect is not being identified at this time as the investigation continues.
