A Seneca man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison in a statutory sodomy case of a minor.

45-year-old Keith Albert Shifflett will spend his time in the state department of corrections.

He was sentenced through the Newton County Prosecuting Office by a judge after waiving a jury sentencing.

Back in August, Shifflett was found guilty with statutory sodomy in the first degree for a victim under 12. Authorities say the charges date back to a March 2017 incident. Shifflett took the stand in his own defense.
