Search underway for new leader for Joplin Public Library

The search for a new leader for the Joplin Public Library is underway.

Back in December of last year, Jacque Gage announced she was stepping down from her post as the director of the library. She has since taken a job at the library on the campus of Ozark Christian College, also in Joplin. Leslie Hayes is one of the two co-interim directors and says they are letting a professional group take over the process from here on.

“Well we’re working with a firm, Bradbury-Miller, and this is what they do pretty much all the time, they help libraries find directors so we’re just working with them to get a feel for what our staff and community are looking for as the library moves forward,” says Leslie Hayes, Co-interim Director, Joplin Public Library.

Hayes says Bradbury-Miller will soon be posting the opening on a host of library job search engines. She says there’s no exact time frame in which to name a permanent replacement.
