The organizations are doing their annual Red Kettle Challenge.
They are working to see who can raise the most money for Joplin’s Salvation Army.
Both the Fire and Police Departments are very competitive during the challenge, but the first responders are just glad to give back to the community.
You know it’s great to give back to the community to help out, in just a very small way. It’s a source of pride for both the Joplin Police Department and the Joplin Fire Department.” said Capt. Ryan West, Joplin Police Department
West says they have had a huge turnout with people at Walmart coming out to help those in need.
Salvation Army will be tallying the totals of who wins the competition later tonight.
