Race 4 Hope 2018


   Runners in Joplin come out to Missouri Southern State University to support a cause that helps women across the Four States.

   Hope 4 you breast cancer foundation held their eleventh annual “race 4 hope” 5k run and 1 mile walk at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course. This is Hope 4 You’s biggest fundraiser of the year with the money going back to help pay for mammograms for women in the four state area. A ceremony was held before participants started running to honor those that have survived breast cancer.The support from volunteers and runners means a lot to those that have been battling the disease. 

   Pat Lipira, the race coordinator, said “It’s great. Ya know, anybody who’s been diagnosed with breast cancer knows you can’t fight it alone. It takes all your friends and family. So having them out here…You’ll see smiles on a lot of the faces.

   Lipira says that there were over one hundred and seventy runners that preregistered for the race.
