PSU’s “eternal cheerleader,” Jack Overman has died.

Overman died on Saturday, December 8th at 100 years old. He’d just celebrated the centennial back in August.

The campus student center is named after the local legend who went to PSU when it was known as the Kansas State Teachers College in 1936. Back then, he was a yell leader for the cheer squad. The lifelong Pittsburg resident was known by generations of students, professors and community members.

PSU president, Steve Scott says “Jack Overman represents everything that’s good about Pittsburg State…His passion for Gorilla athletics, his commitment to individual students, and his enduring love for the institution.”
