Pittsburg State welcomed students from several universities on campus for its Safety Olympics.
The two-day event welcomes students in the Environmental and Safety Management program to show their skills in workplace safety. Competitions include hazard recognition, accident investigation and safety recognition. Instructors are hoping the courses give the young professionals a taste of their career post graduation.
Pat Flynn is the coordinator for the Environment and Safety Management program at PSU and said, “And so they would be responsible for conducting training, providing hazard recognition, or accident investigation or trying to chnage a culture. And so what they have to come in here with is plans that enable them to be successful at that when they go into the workplace.”
This is the second year the school has held the event.
