Power restored and no structural damage in Oronogo, despite downed trees

News

Among the communities hit by Wednesday night’s storms is Oronogo.

Police Chief and Emergency Management Director Chris Carriger says Empire District Electric has since restored power to everyone. He says there were a number of trees knocked down, but no structural damage occurred. He says a number of highways are closed due to flooding from Spring River. Eric Belln and his family got into their shelter before the storm went directly over the top of their house. His neighbor, Bill Cook actually saw it from his front porch.

“Am I gonna survive, that’s that’s about it you know, everything goes through your mind, are you gonna lose your house, what’s gonna be left when ever you get to go back outside,” Bill cook, eye witness.

“You know it just blew and blew and blew and, just got real quiet again and we waited and waited and when we heard the storm had moved on uh we came out and found all of our trees laying down so we were pretty blessed,” says Eric Belln, went into storm room.

Carriger says it may be some time before County Road 230 is passable again.
