“Power of Play” holds fundraiser to make a playground more accessible

A fundraising push is underway to add more accessible options to a Southwest Missouri playground.

Supporters of the “Power of Play” playground in Carl Junction Kicked off the “Everyone/ Everything Counts” fundraiser this morning. So far, they’ve collected about $84 thousand dollars toward the total goal of half a million. Some students are supporting the cause through a read-a-thon while donors can give directly to the project, sponsoring a bench or playground structure.

“Sponsoring a square yard of surfacing. We’re offering permanent donor recognition for that. We’ll have signage on site,” says Heather Linscheid, Power of Play organizer.

The project calls for a new solid, rubber surface at the 2nd and 3rd grade school playground, along with new, more accessible equipment.
