Today is National Drug Take Back Day, and law enforcement agencies across the Four tates are taking part in the initiative.
One of those agencies is Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. From 10 to 2 Saturday, people came in to drop off prescription drugs and narcotics in pill or liquid form. Whether they are unused or outdated, any medications that needed disposing could be brought to the officers.
Jasper County Reserve Deputy John Tsangaris says, “As long as I have been doing this, and I’ve been working with other deputies who have done this for years, we’ve seen a lot of drugs being turned in. We see a lot of people that, you know, are being helped by this service. Because they don’t know what to do with this stuff.”
The only things that could not be brought to officers were inhalers and needles for safety reasons.
