A flight headed to Washington D.C. Monday morning took a couple of Kansas veterans with it.
Art Hartshorn, a veteran who served in the Korean War, and resides in Pittsburg was one of the 24 selected for this year’s honor flight. The experience gives veterans a trip to the nation’s capital, completely free of cost to them. This will be Art’s first time on the trip, and he is humbled be chosen for the experience after serving his country.
“I accepted and we’re going and I’m pretty excited. It’s real impressive. That anybody can spend that much money to send somebody they don’t know,” says Art Hartshorn, Korean War veteran.
The two-day trip will include a guided monument tour for the veterans. Students from Parsons Senior High School have volunteered go on the trip as well assist any veterans that need it.
