Hearts & Hammers will repair the exterior of 10 homes on April 2nd. The nonprofit provides home improvement assistance for senior and disabled homeowners. Representatives from the organization says the service helps more than just the homeowner.
“We like to give back to the community for those people who are in need, plus it helps to beautify the community as well. We find every year that if we paint a house in a block, then the neighbors think, ‘well, I got to keep up with that.’ And they’ll paint theirs,” said Steve Robb, Hearts & Hammers.
Homes must be located in the city limits of Pittsburg and be owner occupied. Completed applications are due by February 19th. You can pick up an application for this service at the Community Development Center located at 603 North Pine in Pittsburg.
