Pittsburg Aquatic Center to host dog swim

News

A Southeast Kansas pool is inviting you and your family dog to spend an evening in the water.

The Pittsburg Aquatic Center is hosting a dog swim on Monday, August 20th. From five thirty through seven that evening, you can bring your dog to the pool and for a four dollar fee enjoy the facility.

Parks and Rec staff say a dollar of the gate fee will be donated to the Humane Society. The dog swim has become an annual tradition at the aquatic center, and staff say it’s something they look forward to every year.

“Last year we had over 100 dogs at the pool, and just to watch them run around and have fun, and the owners do usually get in the water with them, so it’s really fun to watch,” says Kim Vogel, Director of Parks and Recreation, City of Pittsburg.

Along with swimming, vendors ranging from grooming to various products will also be available to answer questions.
