Ping Pong Tournament Hosted in Joplin

More than 40 individuals came to Joplin Memorial Hall Saturday morning, each armed with a ping-pong paddle and a competitive edge.

The Joplin Table Tennis Club hosted the Usa Table Tennis Sanction Tournament, this is the first time they’ve hosted this specific competition.

Players gathered from not only Missouri, But Arkansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Texas to compete in doubles and singles matches.

Competitors ranged from 6 to over 70-years-old, including a team of college students from the University Of Nebraska Lincoln.

“We are thankful for the uh all players who came from 5 states and we are also thankful for the city for providing us a place to practice and tournament,” says Joplin Table Tennis President,  Janus Lazarus.

Officers from the Joplin Police Department also matched up for a duel against members of City Council, with Joplin Police Department redeeming themselves and taking home the trophy for this year’s match-up.
