Residents came out for a free family fun day at Carthage’s 10th annual Rallye in the Park.
The day began with a 5K, ranger run, and a kid’s obstacle course.
A church service in the park was held with a free lunch and much more.
Money raised from regisration fees went toward Peterson Outdoor Ministries.
The organization takes veterans and people with disabilities or serious illnesses out for recreational activities like hunting or fishing.
While the event is catered to help out ministry members in need, it also allows the church to open up to the surrounding community
Jude Champagne, Pastor of First Christian Church Carthage, says, “The second part of what we want to do is reach out to our community. Churches sometimes get inside of balls and they don’t come outside of them. And this is us being able to just come out in the park, welcome our community and say, ‘Hey, just come out and have a great day with us.'”
Champagne says this year the church plans on raising more than $7,000 to benefit Peterson Outdoor Ministries.
