Parishioners give part of their Saturday morning to do some manual labor.
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Saint Mary’s Colgan Catholic Schools had a work day on the grounds of both the church and schools. Church members and even students came out to rake leaves, blow sidewalks and lawns, and clear branches in preparation of Christmas. Some of the students that volunteered their time this morning are not only putting this project down as service hours for school, but one student says it’s more than that for him.
“I go to church here every Sunday and it’s just nice to help clean it up a little bit more and give back to the church that’s given so much to me.” says Junior Thomas Spachek
“It makes me feel good to see the people coming out because we’re able to build a little comradery and being good stewards of our area and also um in many ways it helps us to build up the community and take ownership.” says Father Jerome Spexarth
This is the second work day of the year and they plan on holding another once the weather gets warmer.
