They may not be able to read just yet – but that didn’t keep some Carthage kids from focusing on books this morning.
The group “Parents as Teachers” co-hosted a “read in” with the Carthage Family Literacy Council this morning. They paired books with activities related to the story – everything from playing with a parachute to blowing bubbles and coloring in jack o’lanterns. Each child also got a little something to take home.
“Able to choose whatever book they want – they also get a snack in honor of Helen Louise Elliff’s birthday,” says Jane Goade with Carthage Parents as Teachers.
The project included kids ages birth to five and ran two sessions at the Carthage Early Childhood Center.
