Parents As Teachers holds training in SWMO

Parents As Teachers educators from across the country have been in training in Southwest Missouri the past two days.

The Carthage School District has been the site for the sessions. The Parents As Teachers program is in every school district in the state of Missouri. Program educators help to promote early development in young children, look for any signs of learning disabilities and engage parents as their children’s first teachers.

“Are so fortunate that Parents As Teachers National Center has come here to Carthage to conduct this three to five year old screening, we have people in from Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Kansas City area, all over the state to learn how to best serve children three to five years old,” says Jane Goade, Carthage Parents As Teachers Supervisor.

She says the Parents As Teachers program started in the Show Me State and is now in several foreign countries.
