More than a dozen 2016 American Eagle coins have been placed in the kettles. They have all been wrapped up in two dollar bills. The coins are worth more than $20 a piece.

Workers at the Salvation Army say it’s a nice donation that will help them reach their goal of $315,000 dollars.

“My wife is looking at two or three different people who can sell them for us or give us as much out of them as they can.Because it all is a donation to help the Army with it’s continued ministries and social services for the year,” explained Major Doug Stearns of the Joplin Salvation Army.

Curently, the Army is only at 65 % of its goal. The bell ringers will continue until Christmas Eve.
