The Work Ready designation made by American College Testing, serves as a way for communities to identify their populace as ready for potential employers. Officials say not only does this show prospective employers that the community has people that can work, but that they want to work, and will help achieve economic development in the surrounding cities.
“It means to me personally, that hopefully that my children and grand children can stay here. My great grand children and have, you know, good jobs, have a great quality of life. So, it means a lot to me. I’ve lived here my entire life,” said Judee Snodderly, Ottawa County Business Retention and Expansion.
Jasper, Newton, Vernon, Lawrence, Barry and Barton counties in Southwest Missouri are also certified as “Work Ready.”
