According to a new study, the Four States loses millions to online romance scams every year.
Romance fraud is one of the most expensive scams in the United States. According to a report by the FBI and U.S. Census Bureau, millions of dollars is being collected though online romance scams and fake soulmates.
In Missouri, about $4,650 was made per victim, totaling to $19 million in scams in 2017.
Oklahoma lost around $11 million that year, which concluded that the average victim spent around $4,000 in the name of love.
Kansas spent the least on romance scams in the Four States at almost $5 million per year and nearly $3,000 per victim.
