Oklahoma receives extension on Real ID Act compliance

The Sooner State gets extra time to comply with federal ID requirements.

The u.S. Department of Homeland Security is giving Oklahoma until September 2020 to comply with standards from the Real ID Act.

The deadline had been set for the end of next week.

The Real ID Act was passed in 2005, setting higher standards for identification in an effort to cut down on identification fraud.

Missouri, Kansas, and Arkansas are already Real ID compliant.
