Oklahoma pursuit ends in robbery suspect’s death

News

Oklahoma authorities shoot and kill a Kansas armed robbery suspect after a pursuit.

On Sunday evening, Shane Adair Wentling, 39, tried to buy a beer at a store in Wichita. When the clerk refused to sell it to him, Wentling pulled a firearm on the clerk and fled. Later, he shot at a car while driving on a Kansas highway, leading authorities to issue a lookout for his car.

He drove into Oklahoma on I-35 where he again pulled a firearm, this time on another driver. Around midnight, Oklahoma authorities spotted him and a car chase began with the Perry Police Department and Noble County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities were able to stop his vehicle.

That’s when he pulled the firearm on officers, and he was shot. Wentling was pronounced dead on scene. Osbi is now investigating the incident.
