Newton County is now reclassified as a certified work ready community.
Grow Neosho leaders say being a work ready community will help improve the hiring process for local businesses. The certification allows community college and high school students to add the important “National Career Readiness Certificate” to their education credentials. City, county, school, and workforce organizations have partnered together to reach the certification.
“The employers are able to now see this credential,” said TJ Angel, Work Force director. “They are able to see uh how they tested in those areas. uh they can make a more educated decision on who their hiring.”
Angel adds newton county was certified as work ready in 2015, but it took two years to get everything organized and groups formed.
